PR Account Supervisor

We're looking for a PR Account Supervisor to join our team. The PR Account Supervisor will primarily be responsible for developing and marketing the agency’s Public Relations team and its people/products. This individual is responsible for monitoring and controlling the revenue growth and profitability of the Public Relations team as well as actively pursuing new business opportunities.

Duties + Responsibilities:

External

  • Maintains top-level client contact
  • Supervises the development of public relations activities in conjunction with the client’s objectives and budget limitations
  • Initiates and drives the planning, strategy development and agency’s recommendations toward the execution of public relations plans and activities for clients
  • Acquires thorough knowledge of client’s business to anticipate public relations and marketing problems and opportunities
  • Consults with the Creative, Media, Production and Strategy teams to ensure client objectives are clearly defined and met
  • Develops special programs and writes strategies for the client’s overall brand
  • Writes press releases, develops and pitches stories, maintains media lists and conducts media outreach
  • Writes speeches or byline articles for senior client contacts and assists them with preparing presentations and white papers
  • Conducts client media trainings
  • Advises corporate leaders including C-Suite on a range of critical reputational and positioning issues
  • Develops and drafts crisis plans, media strategies, reactive media statements, talking points, FAQs, memos, crisis simulations and other deliverables as needed
  • Cross-sells range of public relations services and identifies business-building ideas for clients

Internal

  • Oversees department account planning, revenue growth, profitability, work quality, client relations and strategic development
  • Works to manage department employees and evaluate staffing requirements
  • Sets the tone to create a spirit of department teamwork, enthusiasm and high quality
  • Provides counsel to others in the department to help manage the overall workload
  • Acts as writing coach for others in the department
  • Maintains positive working relationships with agency’s other teams, in order to enhance project workflow and cultivate new business opportunities
  • Works with Senior Leadership Team on new business efforts and represents the department at agency new business and other meetings as needed
  • Advises on the preparation and presentation of agency information at trade shows, displays and exhibits
  • Assists and coaches agency staff with public speaking engagements, presentations and preparation of articles for publication
  • Directs the award identification and entry process
  • Completes timesheet in a timely manner for accurate client billing
  • Participates in peer review process when selected
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years’ experience in public relations, social media and event management
  • Agency experience preferred but not required
  • Excellent copywriting skills with a creative flair for producing engaging copy with equally strong spelling, grammar and proof-reading skills
  • Must be able to present writing portfolio or examples and earned media coverage that reflects an understanding and ability to write for various mediums and generate news content
  • Preference for candidates with experience in the public sector
  • Familiarity with AP Style
  • Strong presentation skills from communicating ideas to your team to presenting stories to journalists, the ideal candidate will organize information in a succinct and interesting way to capture attention
  • Superior telephone manner with the confidence to pick up the phone and speak to the media maintaining a positive, friendly and upbeat tone
  • Project management and time-keeping, managing tight deadlines and meeting demands of clients
  • Manages pressures of the team and clients, working quickly and efficiently, without compromising quality
