REZ-1 Public Website

Challenge
REZ-1 systems help transportation companies optimize their container and chassis utilization, distribution and profitability. REZ-1 technology solutions for the transportation industry deliver exceptional levels of innovation, accuracy, accountability and speed.

REZ-1 wanted a website as advanced as its own software, with a website experience that would combine the excitement of the REZ-1 brand while showcasing the firm's world-class capabilities.

The site needed to engage visitors, not just with information, but with an experience that would signal this is a company that goes beyond business as usual. Mintz & Hoke was challenged to make the site stimulating, with interactive features that would set the company apart from competitors.

Balancing this directive, the development team needed to think about how design would reflect REZ-1's brand image and position within its B2B category.

Strategy
REZ-1, as software developers themselves, held Mintz & Hoke to high standards of design and development sophistication, asking for advanced effects to bring information to life and "give the site a pulse."

Mintz & Hoke created visual concepts and site architecture to anticipate a high level of interactivity. It was determined that coding in jQuery versus Flash would maintain the integrity of animations across the latest browsers and devices such as iPads and smart phones.

Following our guiding principle, Mintz & Hoke avoided adding any animation or motion graphics for their own sake. As a result, the site is professional and totally appropriate for REZ-1, yet stands out among industry sites that don't often combine distinctive design with functionality.

Mintz & Hoke developers used seven types of jQuery techniques to make information scroll, move and present itself in ways that keep the site fresh and animated. They also "broke the grid," using images and shapes in ways that extend beyond the usual design matrix. The Capabilities section uses "sprites" to make puzzle pieces seem to interlock and work independently as navigation features. Developers leveraged portable network graphics, or PNGs, to create "transparent" graphics that give the pages visual dimension.

Mintz & Hoke designers kept the site's form tightly linked to its function, with animation and effects used strategically to deliver a more engaging experience, but without distracting from REZ-1's messaging.
