Challenge:
Many Connecticut residents and businesses flip the switch and consume electricity without thinking about energy efficiency - a condition that has led to steady increases in the state's annual peak-energy demand and continually climbing electric rates.

In 2008, the state Department of Public Utility Control charged Mintz & Hoke with developing an outreach program to educate and promote awareness among Connecticut consumers and business leaders.

Strategy:
Mintz & Hoke developed a series of seasonal campaigns to highlight simple, practical steps that can increase energy efficiency and reduce demand for electricity.

Wait 'til 8 campaign, launched in summer 2008 included print, radio, online and public relations outreach and was designed to show Connecticut residents the role they play in ensuring reliable energy service can be achieved.

To extend the energy efficiency message in fall 2008 and winter 2008, Mintz & Hoke focused on the "My Energy Policy" messaging and used radio, print, online and public relations to provide practical tips and information for consumers.

Winning Results:
Ongoing campaign secured statewide media coverage over the course of two seasonal campaigns, including a total of four TV appearances, 11 radio interviews, and one dozen newspaper/magazine article pickups.
